Honoring Intention

This is a continuation of my personal experience with COMMITMENT!

I don’t think I’ve ever learned so much in such a short period of time than during the past month since my friend arrived to stay with me for these weeks.

To offer some background, we met on the internet, had spoken a few times on Zoom, and were members of a group. Our initial introduction was, perhaps, 1 1/2 to 2 years ago and our contact certainly wasn’t daily….more like monthly.

Fast forward to the present when events happened and she called me to inquire whether she could come stay with me for a time while she found  her own place in my town. She was familiar with the state of New Mexico. We were ‘adult’ about it before any decision could be made, and ultimately we ‘committed’ to doing it and we were absolutely going to do our parts to make it work!  At this time I had no clue that I was doing myself the biggest favor of my life!

Any relationship has its issues as we all know, but honestly, this whole process has been so enlightening to us both because we know that commitment means “no other alternative”, and so we both have put on our ‘big-girl britches’ and we are totally pledged to not only making it work, but we are enjoying this privilege in our lives.

I am aware that I ‘want’ to bend for the sake of our success toward our commitment. In this process, a sensation comes over me, i.e., I feel compassion sometimes, I feel selflessness sometimes, I feel excitement sometimes when I observe such positive results which come from no inconvenience on my part, but rather, from a sincere endeavor by me.  It’s easy to reflect on those times in my life when it was apparent my focus was so far away from this kind of attitude.

Please understand this is difficult to describe, but it is happening, and I am a far better person for it.  I am expanding my capacity for understanding and altruistic thinking.  Plainly, I am caring outside of myself and it feels wonderful and not only that, I feel like I am completing myself in some important way as a human being.

Incidentally, my friend and I have conversations about this, and her experience is similar.

So, my friends, this is my story and I’m sticking to it!  Ha! 🙂

Blessed Be.  To All Be Blessed.

Amen…And So It Is.    ~Gaya

It’s kind of like keeping my word…it involves being true to self…it’s about living each day on purpose.  THIS IS WHAT SHOWING UP MEANS TO ME.

As I continue to grow older (which is an amazement to me, believe me), I’ve become not only grateful for the opportunity to keep on living and enjoying life,  I want to show up every day with enthusiasm and eagerness as I greet every morning.  I want Porter, my little enjoyable companion, to feel safe and secure just as I try to keep myself the same way.

I want my attitude and actions to reflect just how sincere I am about giving as much of myself to this life as I can.  There is nothing about life which is lackadaisical as far as I see it. It involves acceptance and interest and creativity and sincerity and love of myself and other living beings and continuous reminders to myself that I am inextricably connected to, and unconditionally loved and supported by God, Universe, Creator, Higher Intelligence…whatever you choose to call it. And along with this, I couple with my Faith that I am continuously creating my own joy and happiness while I live  every moment, as I live in the NOW.

It’s not about making my mark while I spend my time on this earth, but it is about holding myself accountable to make my life count in respect and gratitude for the gift I have been given to live it. I want to feel that I have become better every day, as well as useful. I want to spend my time in a worthwhile way.  This includes resting in the silence of it all.  I always want to provide myself the space to acknowledge the expanse of the universe and what a small particle of it I am within it.  Appreciation for all the blessings and grace I’ve enjoyed is big too.  And, above all, Gratitude for this grace as I recover from my missteps along my Forever Path.

I am confident that my conscious efforts are supported.  I consider myself in a silent partnership with my Creator.  I exalt this.

Blessed Be.  To All Be Blessed.

I could hardly wait to get here!

I’ve been wrestling with overeating for about a month and a half!  This is a bothersome state of affairs as far as I’m concerned, and everyday I find myself ignoring my wishes …or my intention…and just keep doing what I want to do! You see, that’s it:  I fight with myself about what I do, and what I want to intend to do!

For so many mornings, I approach the new day with what I want to intend to do, and by early afternoon, I sabotage my plans…a very willful act!

I asked for help yesterday, and this morning I’ve begun thinking a new way:  I have to get out of my human self and link with my Spiritual Essence.  This business of hanging out in this material world and then professing a spiritual connection has to be evidenced by my own deliberate meld.

I looked at my little Porter and stated out loud, “I am a living being and so are you!  We are one! You love me unconditionally and I look after your needs with love and compassion because you cannot do it alone.”  And, then I extended this thought and realized that everything I come into contact with… as close as my own home… cannot do well without me, and I became mindful that I am enhanced by the warmth of my home in this current cold weather.  I am self-fulfilled by the energy I exert when I beautify this place I dreamed about and chose and love .. I began to realize the interaction which takes place because of my mindfulness and feelings of this deeper connection to everything. Gratitude comes as I feel this deep connection.

I feel my complicit behavior to that which is around me…Like this morning when I donned a sweater that I’ve owned for more than 25 years.  I wore it when I taught school all those many years ago!  I had relegated it to the  ‘wear-it-when-you’re-doing- real-work-around-the-place drawer!”  But this morning, I gleefully brought it out and loudly stated, “I still love this sweater!” and it feels so good wearing it again!

When I sat at the breakfast table I was thankful for my food in a much different way. I realized I had  fed the birds earlier this cold morning, and I was thankful I did that as well – consciously aware I had taken care of them too and I was thankful I had the bird food to do it.

This business of “getting down to it” is so very intimately connected to my life and the way I live it.  It’s about inclusion…including all else in my life picture. It’s about selflessness. It’s about the realization that I am cloaked by so very much around me which supplies my every need. It’s about realizing I am living under Grace. It’s about appreciation and honoring my entire existence and the existence of all else as well.  It’s about all the creature comforts I have and wanting to extend comfort to that which needs me.

I think I more fully understand  the statement I’ve made so often:  “I am inextricably connected to and unconditionally loved and supported by God.”  I now feel that in reverse.  “ALL ELSE is inextricably connected and unconditionally loved and supported by Me.”  What an Onion Peel!  I DON’T EVER WANT TO LOSE THIS THOUGHT.

I believe I have a newfound respect for my responsibility to me.

Blessed Be. To All Be Blessed.

‘Understanding’ is humbling and powerful.   ~Gaya

Come October 28th, and I’ll have lived in my forever home for a whole year already.  I can hardly believe this!

I remember saying to myself and others, ‘I know there’s lots of work to be done in that house, and I probably won’t be doing as much as I did in the house I’m leaving…’. Well, my thinking and doing have changed dramatically!  I’ve taken on some projects, completed them just fine, and with this confidence, I’m planning to tackle painting the interior of the house.  I just finished measuring the rooms to figure out how much paint I’ll need!! Yes, at my ripe age of 85, I’ve come to the conclusion that indeed, where there’s a will, there is a way.  And coupling  this with the knowledge that I’ll work at my own pace, I have no concern about the endgame.  I wrote in the blurb on the back of my first book, “This book easily provides a catalyst toward Hope and Renewed Belief in Self and offers uplifting matter-of-fact views from a woman who lives her life with no ‘end game’ in sight.” IT WAS TRUE THEN AND IT IS TRUE NOW!

I recognize that life has come full circle many times in my life.  It’s about starting and finishing things.  It’s about finding solutions and new understanding. It’s about using my strengths in the many ways that strength shows itself. I rely upon my history when I can see the successes and achievements and the times I’ve fallen and gotten back up!  This history propels me forward in trusting myself when I take on anything new.  I KNOW I CAN DO IT – IF THAT’S WHAT I WANT TO DO!

When I was in my twenties, forties, and even sixties, I don’t believe I ever preceded doing something with thoughts of “can I do this?  am I capable?”  I went ahead and moved forward because I wanted to do it.  I feel the same way now.

So, painting the interior of my home may become a saga and that’s just fine.  Another full circle  of my life…and I hope I create many more.

We’ve got your back!  ~Gaya

Blessed Be.  To All Be Blessed.  Stay Safe, Be Well.

These days, I’m going for peace, and serenity and equanimity.  One might think this is easy, but it really isn’t!

I live alone and am left to my own devices.  I can choose not to turn on the TV or radio.  I don’t have to say a word to anyone…I can go about my business and shun the world if I wish.  BUT, this isn’t the kind of peace I’m speaking about.  I want peace within the world in which I live.

Peace of mind requires an overall viewpoint of acceptance.  It requires generous thinking…it is living a life of allowance. Of course, dealing with responsibilities in life creates a certain amount of effort, it requires me to change what is.  It requires me to think about what I can do to pre-empt chaos.  This is as simple as changing the oil in my car to avoid engine trouble, for example.  It’s the same thing when it comes to people.  My demeanor dictates  my surroundings.  I am free to do and say that which maintains the space around me. I try to put the best construction on everything without judgment.  If peace is foremost on my mind, then I don’t want to ruffle the waters. I want smooth sailing… I don’t have to go anywhere near the water.

We say, we are in the world, not of  the world.  I can be a contributor to this world I’m in, beginning at my own doorstep.  Peace and calm is a construct of holding oneself in composure.  It’s a posture. It can’t be achieved in arrogance.  In fact, if it is not authentic, it deflates and causes chaos within my mind!

Peace is not achieved easily…it takes time and practice and knowing myself.  It is almost a skill.  I’ve found everything and everyone around me are my ‘peace testers’.  Funny, isn’t it!?  As long as I am given to ‘triggers’ or any kind of dissatisfaction, I am totally aware I always have work to do.  I love this position.  It keeps me humble at the same time I am in such earnest in achieving my intent.

It’s keeping the thoughts at bay.   I say to myself, “New thought, or No thought!”  This works for me.  It tones down the noise in my head which the Ego wants me to tolerate and keep me confused and in unrest.  Isn’t it wonderful we have the capacity to overrule, or override our minds.  We have great personal power.  When we come from the heart, this power exceeds all.  It’s clean and loving and totally well-intended.  What’s outside does not have to enter inside.  We have the keys to that doorway.

There is a Peace of God.

Blessed Be.  To All Be Blessed.  Stay safe.  Be Well.

There’s always something to work on!  Always a new way to look at something! I can always make improvements upon myself and make changes which start up a whole new experience in my life to better myself.

I love this side of it!  Here I am, approaching 84 years of age, and I’m nowhere close to feeling like my life is ending, or my thinking has to be modified, or I have to relax more and give myself more leeway.  NOT AT ALL.  In fact, if anything, I put myself  more to the test to uphold new learning which continues to inspire me.  Everything stays fresh and new when one is willing to entertain new things.

I’ve been working with not repeating thoughts…the rat-on-the-wheel kind of thinking which I’m told occupies 50% of our daily thoughts.  Imagine, we are repeating that many thoughts which essentially is saying we are leading a ‘secondhand’ life, right?  Going over and over again, chewing the same old same old, feeling the same agonies and disruptions time and again…and for what?  To continuously punish and flog ourselves over absolutely nothing that is in the NOW.

Fast Forward to Today:  It has been well over a month since my last blog.  I started this one April 1st, and for whatever reason, I had to leave it until today, April 22nd.  In the meantime, I celebrated my 84th birthday.  My son was hospitalized with a severe infection in his arm which, thankfully, has been stabilized and he is now on the mend.  My cat, Tippy, became ill, and she has traveled over the Rainbow Bridge.  For me, these three incidents in a relatively short period of time were enough to process.  What is important in all of this is the fact that I continued to work with “New Thoughts, or NO Thoughts”!  I must say, I find this exercise very liberating and stabilizing too.  I didn’t get carried away…I remained Grateful for all that I have.  I continued to be Hopeful with respect to the privilege of living. I remarked to myself more than once how resilient I felt and when I sat in the silence, I essentially instructed myself to allow only new, healing thoughts about each moment, each occurrence.

I no longer want to allow my mind to habitually dictate  repetitive thoughts and ultimately repetitive actions.  Clearly, I don’t get different results if I continue to behave in a repetitive manner.  Change can’t be avoided as life presents to us, and I can’t instigate change in my life if I don’t grab hold of my Conscious Intention and make sound choices.

Ease in life comes with recognizing how I feel when I am making choices.  It’s like the expression “Let your Conscience Be Your Guide”.  I know when I take the time, when I don’t rush into something, when I allow my body to react and alert me before I make the conscious choice, I am listening to my Essence.  It’s not about listening to the Egoic side of me trying to juggle a win-win.…it’s about facing myself head-on with my big-girl-britches on, and hearing my own instructions.  This split-second thinking rewards me with the relief I feel when I have overridden my Ego which ultimately gives me peace and understanding.

You know how to guide your way.

You are part of that which created you.

Your intention has been with you since you became.

You are right on time.   ~ Gaya

Blessed Be.  To All Be Blessed.  Stay Safe and Be Well.

The peace I am feeling these days has to do with tending my own garden.   I am the controller of my thoughts, and it is my sole task to make sure these thoughts go in a positive direction and are in alignment with my intention.  You can’t keep a garden properly watered if you spray in a direction away from the plants!

Glancing over my shoulder, worrying at any level (the greatest exercise in futility in my estimation), comparing my progress in anything to another, and forgetting that gratitude comes absolutely first in order to posture myself in tune with more abundance and happiness, are the most significant distractors from my original intention:  expanding my awareness and continuing to have a fully exploratory experience of the greatness that comes with the huge privilege of living my life.

If I am not on top of my game, mere thoughts that haven’t even solidified into any kind of reasonable pattern can cause me to swerve and diverge, and before I know it, I’m off on a tangent of go-nowhere thinking, which ultimately doesn’t make me feel good. This total distraction lures me away from my purpose if I’m not actively holding myself to task.  You’ve heard when someone says, “Don’t go there” [with that kind of conversation].It’s the same thing.  I don’t want to go there either!  I must stay here!

I have to be an active participant in my life all of the time.  I am responsible to hold myself accountable…thought, word and deed.  This takes attention and intention, a game plan.  It takes sincerity and seriousness about what I have figured out is important to me.  It requires me to follow my own star(s), because I am unique, and therefore, my experiences are also unique.  Since ever, I have been formulating my Forever Path…I’ve made good and not-so-good choices, I’ve solved and resolved, learned, fallen and always risen back up, and there has been a reason for all of it.  I am forging ahead, always looking for more to expand my consciousness.

Clearly, the more difficult my experience, the more difficult the lesson.  My entire life has been by design just for me.  I’m planning it all of the time.  It is becoming easier because I am understanding more, and I am seeing the results of my attention and intention.  There is a rhyme and a reason for everything.

I know I’m doing good when I am feeling good about what I am doing.

with the wisdom you gain along the way.”  ~ Gaya

Blessed Be. To All Be Blessed.  Be Safe, Stay Well.

I’ve stated many times that I talk to myself, and I really do believe this inner dialogue is between me and my Higher Self.  The thing is, I have so many thoughts all of the time, and it’s the important ones I want to hold dear.  I’ve discovered how I select which are the important thoughts: I’m nudged to write them down, like in a post, or in my books, or in a journal, or in this blog. I have a Word file which I label Hope and Faith.  I add to this all of the time.  It’s my glossary of excerpts I have written in comments/answers online, and it’s also others’ words which I have found so profound and meaningful to me.

So what am I trying to say?  In my introspection, I know I’ve repeated during live streams that I do them for me as well as for anyone who finds them meaningful and helpful.  Now I’m beginning to think they’re much more for me when I’m trying to get in touch with myself.

Some say it’s through pain and suffering that we find our way as we resolve and solve and triumph repeatedly throughout our lifetimes.  I agree; however,  I also think when I’m quiet and in deep thought because I am searching for some answers, and when I have asked for help in finding my way, these answers seem to appear from me to me.

I’m certain I’ve touched on this theory in prior blogs, but now I’m much more specific to my point. If I can help it, I don’t want to go down the pathway of pain and suffering as a final option just because I’ve neglected to read the signs that are given to me each and every day…and they are in black and white!  My own words!  My own instructions to Me!  My walking my Talk! These are Blessings, it is God-given Grace.

Never to forget I am a Divine Being, living in a human condition.  I have intuition…I know when I am in tune, going with the flow, acknowledging my own inquiry.  I hear it:  “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Blessed Be.  To All Be Blessed. Stay Safe and Well.

It never fails, I have to go ‘through something’ in order to see the light!  I know all the words, I’ve written plenty of posters, all of which I unequivocally believe…in fact, I consider them all inspired works, right down to this blog and my books too.

It’s my Spiritual Practice that keeps me in line.  It’s my fundamental ideas about who I think I am, how serious I am about my life and how I’m living it, and about life in general; how intent am I with my actions, and striving, along with thriving, in my own life.

One thing I know, I don’t do anything alone.  When I’m in problem, I call upon the basics:  I am inextricably connected to, and unconditionally loved and supported by God, Universe, Creator, Source Energy, take your pick.  I trust myself and hold strong to my Faith in That Power Greater Than Myself, from which I was created.  I absolutely know that if I let it and if I ask for help, and if I can have the patience to wait for the answer – which will come when in good timing – all will work out fine.  It is always after the fact that I find this out!

This blog is an affirmation to the above testimony.  For more than a few days I have been working with a friend of mine online with a problem about subscribing to this blog.  I went to my originating sources…wrote all kinds of emails, explained my problem.  I got on their live chats and had long discussions, and kept enlisting my friend along the way to ‘try this or that’ to see if I was making headway.  Nothing seemed to be working, but we both kept on it.  Lo and behold, yesterday, we had the breakthrough.  We both knew it was through our mutual perseverance that we finally were able to solve this problem.

Relationships are no different, and I’ve just been through a pretty trying time along these lines as well.  Thankfully, I have resilience, and personal reliance that says I have confidence that if I keep on trying, keep on looking for the answers, keep on meditating about it, and keep on feeling all the gratitude for how much I am trying – knowing I mean well and am working with love – I will receive expanded awareness to get me beyond what I am considering a problem.  I will receive the guidance to know what I can do to the benefit of all involved.  Today I received this information too.

This is what I refer to when I say, “Let the Winds of Heaven Blow Between Us” and “Let the Dust Settle”. Everything does work itself out as long as I don’t quit.  Everything I do has to do with how important it is to me.  I acknowledge my attention and intention and the continuous choices I am willing to make to see the world I want to see:  Peace and Calm, and expanded conscious awareness comes when I put my heart into something, and then  solution and resolution can be achieved.

All Be Well and Stay Safe.

We are within you and not separate. Your wishes are the command.    ~ Gaya

It’s so important what I think, what I say, what I do. Whatever comes out of my mouth and however I behave tells others exactly who I am for that time. I want to put more conscious awareness upon my actions, words and deeds…not how it relates to what others think about me, but rather,  to what power I have that creates my small world, my happiness and joy, my frustration and dis-ease.

To be more clear:  One can get so swept up in ‘appearances’, when instead, the conscious awareness ought to be on what really is! When I react, as against respond with a deliberate thought about something, I’m not intending to show who I AM at the time.  In fact, the exact opposite occurs:  I show my disorganized mind and emotions,,.my unconscious  unaware  side.

Life happens quickly…moment to moment…and I think it behooves me to slow myself down so I can relish in the delights of the five senses during the precious NOW moments.  What more is there, after all, than enjoying what I’m up to, what I’m experiencing, creating, as I act out my life play?

This is  ‘deliberate’ living ‘ … Authenticity at its best.

When I’m ‘on top of my game’, my inside artist is hard at work, designing in detail what I am thinking about, what kind of attention I’m giving to it, what outcome I am  expecting. In this very process I’m adding the color to my life and when I provide the details, the excitement that begins to happen is essentially me creating my small world for my own pure enjoyment and gratification.  It’s in these moments I am so grateful for all that I have.  I have so many gifts to use which stir from within.  We all do.  It’s a matter of  letting those ‘cats out of the bag’!

Perfect Timing!  I’m intentionally setting a deliberate action plan for me to more consciously initiate. I’m creating more ‘Go’ in my Flow.  I’m bringing more privilege of living my life with the deliberate intention of enjoying the whole journey.

There’s no question about it:  I have no endgame in sight!  I guess that’s what life is all about…we deliberately keep enjoying our ‘lifestyle’.

Blessed Be.  Be Safe and Well, All.
